Kohima College gets commerce section

Parliamentary Secretary, Khriehu Leizietsu, inaugurating the Commerce Section of the Kohima College on April 24.

Dimapur, April 24 (EMN): Parliamentary Secretary of State Lotteries and Music Task Force, Khriehu Liezietsu inaugurated the Commerce Section of Kohima College, Kohima, on April 24.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Khriehu impressed upon the duty of all teaching and non-teaching faculty to provide a safe and positive intellectual learning environment to students. He was optimistic that with the opening of the commerce section, the college would march ahead and produce lot of commerce graduates in the days ahead.
Principal of Kohima College Kohima, Dr. Watijungshi Jamir, in his inaugural speech, thanked all the faculty members and other staff for the commitment and devotion in constructing the building within a short span of time. He said the commerce section building was constructed at the cost of Rs 18 lakhs.
He informed that Kohima College was established on August 9, 1967. He has accredited the founding members for their vision to establish the institution thereby producing many luminaries holding prominent positions in the State.
Khriehu said setting up a commerce section has been a pressing need especially felt for the youth from economically weaker section of the society who did not possess the means to travel outside the state for further studies. ‘This requirement was all the more urgent, since there was no institution offering higher studies in the field of humanities in Kohima at that point of time,’ he stated.
The Parliamentary Secretary donated a sum of Rs two lakh and a keyboard for the welfare of the college.
