Kohima badminton stadium gets facelift

Kohima, Oct. 12 (EMN): The badminton indoor stadium at Officers Hill, Kohima, got a facelift including the Badminton World Federation-approved floor procured from Taufik International Professional Sports Flooring among other settings in the stadium.
Minister of Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu, inaugurated the renovated stadium on Wednesday. He informed that the government is trying its best to develop sports infrastructure in all the district headquarters under the special infrastructure programme.
Kronu said that it is high time for Nagaland to catch up with the fast changing world. “For quite some time, records in sports were not good but it is time to pull the socks and catch up with rest of the world,” he said.
Presenting the construction committee report, N Wati, said the government has allocated INR 50.00 lakh for renovation works.
“Since the flooring was in a very bad condition, we procured world class flooring approved by BWF from Taufik International Professional Sports Flooring,” he informed.
Better and brighter lighting facilities have been installed replacing the old ones. Bathrooms have been installed with new fixtures. VIP bathroom, male and female dressing areas have been provided, he said.
The renovation of the stadium was carried out with contribution from the members of the Capital Shuttlers Club, which will be re-imbursed on release of funds by the department, of Youth Resources & Sports, he informed.
