Kohima among 66 cities to receive ‘City Award’
DIMAPUR — Nagaland’s capital Kohima is among the 66 cities in the country to win the ‘City Award’ (North East Zone) in the fourth edition of the India Smart Cities Award Contest (ISAC) 2022.
President of India, Droupadi Murmu, will be felicitating the winners of the fourth edition of the ISAC 2022, on September 27 at the Brilliant Convention Centre, Indore, stated an update from PIB.
The two-day conclave (September 26 and the 27th) will witness the participation of all 100 smart cities that are leading a paradigm shift in the practice of city development by being at the forefront of urban innovation.
“The event will provide a platform for the cities to showcase their exemplary work done under the Mission to help crystallise roadmap for future of urban transformation in the country,” it stated.
The ISAC has been organised under the Smart Cities Mission, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, since 2018.
On September 26, the conclave will feature the inauguration of an exhibition, demonstrating the award-winning projects under the ISAC 2022.
Day two of the conclave will focus on the distribution of the ISAC 2022 awards by the President, where five states/UTs, 31 unique cities and 7 partner organisations will be honoured with prizes.
The Smart Cities Mission was launched on June 25, 2015, with an aim to provide core infrastructure, a clean and sustainable environment and a decent quality of life to their citizens through the application of ‘smart solutions.’
It is a transformational mission, aimed at bringing about a paradigm shift in the practice of urban development in the country and, as of date, 6,000 plus projects worth more than INR 1.1 lakh crore have been completed. The remaining projects will be completed by June 30, 2024, it stated.
