Diphu, Dec. 7 (EMN): The 19th martyrs’ day was observed by Karbi Longri NC Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF), an armed organisation in Karbi Anglong who is now in ceasefire with the central government.
The day was observed at Taralangso designated camp on Dec. 6 Wed.
Chairman of Joint Action Committee for Autonomous State (JACAS) Khorsing Teron expressed his confusion as to why the people of Karbi Anglong despite of continues movement and demands are yet to attain statehood while citing that certain things are needed to be corrected.
“Despite the several decades of movement witnessed in Karbi Anglong for autonomous state, it has been a failure and the reason is mistakes are committed somewhere. The mistake is done by our elected leaders of MP, MLAs and MAC. They are the wrong doers who create problems by taking the issue of autonomous state,” Teron said. He urged the masses to support the parties by positively taking the autonomous state issue in right direction.’
A paper presentation was also presented about the aims and objectives and activities of the organisation which stated that in seven years of peace talks with central government, the KLNLF has taken its own initiative.
Due to non support from elected representatives like MP, MLAs and MAC and masses there are troubles and difficulties faced in the course of peace process.
There is seen leadership crises among the social organisations as there is no one to lead the Karbi society to the progressive path. The powers and authority of KAAC is losing to the state government now. The KLNLF fully support the Delhi Chalo’ being organised by autonomous state demanding parties scheduled for Dec. 19. The KLNLF leaders and cadres will also take part in this programme, KLNLF presentation said.
President, Karbi Cultural Society (KCS) Chandra Sing Kro said that the Karbi society is now standing at a cliff with confusions and troubles everywhere. In border areas the forest land are being encroached and outsiders are increasing in numbers. Within the community is seen disunity and losing confidence among each other. Everyone is going their own way and there is no time for the society, Kro said. He wished success for Delhi Chalo’.
He urged the younger generation to fill up the gap as the older generations are losing their physical and mental strength in order to lead the Karbi society.
President, KANCHASDCOM Ajit Timung also urged the public to support the KLNLF on their demand on Article 3 i.e. separate state as well as the autonomous state demanding parties like JACAS and KANCHASDCOM.
Chairman, KLNLF P. Dilli urged the people to extend support the demands of KLNLF in order to end the peace process with central government.
General secretary, KLNLF Thong Teron; Publicity secretary Rijak Dera and other ranks and files of the organisations including leaders from social organisations attended the Martyrs’ day.
