Kiphire conducts mock drill on Covid-19

Dimapur, April 28 (EMN): A mock drill on preparedness for management of Covid-19 patients was conducted at District Hospital Kiphire on April 28.

Different stages of the mock drill included bringing of patients by ambulance to the Covid-19 hospital where the patients were sent for testing. It also included sample collection, where the lab technician draw the swab sample from the patient, seal the VTM and handed over to the designated police personnel for transporting to laboratory.

The mock drill concluded with sanitisation of the dead body following standard management guidelines and handing over to the relatives. It was followed with a demonstration on bio medical waste management, a DIPR report stated.

The mock drill was demonstrated by the medical department of Kiphire.
Meanwhile, the Tuensang district task force (DTF) on Covid-19 and district disaster management authority (DDMA) have decided to conduct a similar mock drill on April 29 at GHSS Tuensang.

In this regard, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) and CEO DDMA, Tuensang, Ajit Kumar Verma conducted a table top exercise on April 28 in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office.

During the exercise for the mock drill, members have discussed on the capabilities of the district to respond and manage Covid-19 positive cases.

Dr. John from District Hospital Tuensang had highlighted the case scenario for the mock drills and also briefed the officers, who have been assigned to instruct the participations.

After the exercise, the ADC led all participants and visited the designated venue for the mock drill.

Wokha district task force on Covid-19 and district disaster management authority (DDMA) have also decided to conduct a mock drill on April 29 at the District Hospital Wokha.

In this regard, DTF held a meeting on April 28 in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office. Addressing the members, DC and chairman DTF, Wokha, Orenthung Lotha, has stressed on the need to be prepared before the actual thing happen.

ADC Wokha, K Mhathung Tsanglao highlighted on preparedness plan for the district during the meeting.
