Kikon is protem speaker; budget session from March 13

Kohima, March 8 (EMN): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Mmhonlumo Kikon has been nominated as protem speaker of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA). This was informed by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio during his maiden press conference at the Civil Secretariat, Kohima on Thursday.
Rio also said the budget session has been moved to commence from March 13 and the first day will see oath-taking and electing of a new speaker of the NLA.
As per information received from Raj Bhavan, Governor PB Acharya has approved Kikon’s nomination and the new protem speaker will be administered the oath of office on March 9 at Raj Bhavan Kohima at 10 am. After being sworn in, Kikon will run the activities of the newly elected house until the house elects a speaker.
