Kohima, August 29 (EMN): The newly constructed Tsütuonuomia Indoor Stadium located at Pherazou, T Khel in Kohima village was inaugurated this evening by former MLA, Khriehu Liezietsu in which a dedicatory prayer was offered pastor of Naga Bazaar Baptist Church, Rev. Kevimese Suohu.
Initiated by Khriehu Liezietsu, the foundation for the construction of Tsütuonuomia Indoor Stadium started in the year 2015, which was completed at the cost of Rs 1,24,78,125. The construction was supervised by the Tsütuonuomia Youth Organisation (TYO).
Under his initiation, four indoor stadiums- one in each khel- have been constructed. Two stadiums at L Khel and T Khel have been completed and the other two at D Khel and P Khel were on the verge of completion.
Speaking at the a brief inaugural programme, Liezietsu observed that presently with the easy life and good foods, Naga people are living an unhealthy lifestyle without any exercise. This, he said, will affect the health in the long run.
He noted that games and sports of various kinds- both indoor and outdoor, are not only important and healthy for our body but also helps build a sense of discipline, cooperation and team spirit in an individual.
Liezietsu also observed that Nagas gifted with a good physique – robust and strong- have wide scope to success in the national and international level especially in the indoor games. In fact, he said Nagas are doing quite well in a lot of games gaining recognition and popularity.
He was optimistic that the indoor stadium will benefit the Tsütuonuomia youth towards fostering a competitive spirit and sportsmanship thereby improving the standard of games and sports among its players and athletes.
Director of Youth Resources and Sports, Linda Solo, and the chairman T Khel Council also spoke on the occasion. Khriehu Liezietsu also released the TYO sportsman souvenir.
The programme was followed by an exhibition match.
