Dimapur, May 19 : The underground group NSCN (IM) has “sworn in” Kholi Konyak as the vice-chairman of the organization on Thursday, May 19, at Camp Hebron, the group’s headquarters. The NSCN (IM) issued a note on Thursday informing of the ‘ceremony.’
The note stated: “Consequent upon the approval of the nomination of Gen. (Retd.) Kholi Konyak as the vice-chairman of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim by the National Hoho on May 17, 2016, CHQ Hebron in a brief ceremony at Oking, Delhi, Gen. (Retd.) Kholi Konyak was sworn in as the vice-chairman of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim at 4.00 P.M. 19th of May, 2016.”
During the ceremony, the organization’s general secretary Th. Muivah “declared that Gen (Retd.) Kholi was one of the glories of Naga history and to lead the Naga nation he has been honoured with the post of vice-chairman.” Muivah also appreciated Konyak for “taking the right decision and joining force for the righteous cause.”
Konyak, in a brief speech, “expressed words of gratitude for the honour that has been given to him,” the note said. “He stated that his dream was to follow and never for high post. He told the members present to lead the way and that he would be fully behind them.”
