Khango-led NSCN(K) reiterates Isak’s impeachment

Dimapur, Jan. 9 (EMN): The Khango-led NSCN/GPRN(K) has reiterated its stand on the impeachment of Ato Kilonser (Col. Retd) Isak Sumi.

A video message released by the group on Sunday, January 8, claimed that Sumi was found guilty of “grabbing absolute control of powers and functions without the concern of collective leadership, non-distribution of powers and functions, nepotism and exposing self-style one-man government policy”. 

In the video reportedly shot in a village in Mon district, Khango Konyak stated, ‘We were never consulted; whatever appointment was being made was done by Isak Sumi without any consultation. We thought we were working for the Naga people but he was working on his own personal interest.’

Konyak alleged that the “government” was ‘made to feel humiliated with words spreading that many people had left the government but it was happening because he wanted people under him’.

‘I had given so much of interest to the Naga people. We had so much trust in him and we were in a ceasefire with the government of India (GoI).

‘But I was never consulted or informed of any information about the seven NNPGs or the talk with the GoI by Isak, who is also the co-convenor of the WC-NNPG,’ Konyak alleged.

NSCN(K) Chief of Army, Moba, who was also seen in the video, said that since the formation of the government in 2018, the group wanted an educated person for the post of general secretary and to be the right hand of the government, and that was how Sumi was installed.

‘But since the formation of the government, we know how he was working. There were misunderstandings and non-consultation from Isak Sumi with the group. The president had not much of civil authority and we were also not consulted for any civil authority and had no knowledge. He had even constituted Home and Chief Secretary but we were not aware of any; and even the president was not aware of any,’ claimed Moba.
