KOHIMA — Member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (MLA) of 14th Southern Angami Assembly Constituency (AC), Kevipodi Sophie, inaugurated the Jakhama community building in Chümoukedima on Thursday.

Speaking at the inaugural programme, Sophie congratulated the community for the successful construction of the building and stressed on unity among the members.

Commending the foresight of elders, who acquired the land for the welfare of future generations, he highlighted that such achievements result from collective efforts. Asserting that unity among villagers has paved the way for such facilities, Sophie urged everyone to perpetuate this spirit of unity and brotherhood.

Reflecting on his non-partisan approach in the previous elections, he advocated transcending party lines for the sake of peaceful coexistence.

Zhopo Richa, chairman of the Jakhama village council (JVC), echoed the need of understanding, unity, and brotherhood for peaceful coexistence, while Tepul Hopovi, convenor of the building committee, gave insights into the construction funded by the JVC.

He further informed that the facility has provision for parking and shops as well as additional space to host events and meetings.

Earlier, Dr. T Kushio Sophie invoked God’s blessings and other members shared their thoughts on the occasion, while Keneiprazhu Tase, secretary of JVC, expressed gratitude to the participants.
