Keneisetuo Kire is champion of Chakhroma Wrestling Meet 2024

DIMAPUR — Keneisetuo Kire, 28, from Tenyiphe-I village defeated Visatuo Niphi from Medziphema village in the final to win the 52nd Chakhroma Wrestling Meet 2024 on Friday.

Organized by Chakhroma Youth Organisation and hosted and Chakhroma Baptist Youth Association, the wrestling meet was held at Medziphema town local ground.

Kire, the champion of Chakhroma Wrestling Meet 2024, received a cash prize of INR 80,000, while the runner-up was awarded INR 60,000.

The third position holder Vikemetoho Zecho was awarded INR 40,000 and the fourth placed Keneivilie Meyase bagged INR 30,000. Quarter finaliss — Vikuobilie Krose, Medozeto Chücha, Zhavilie Meyase and Terhüjavi Terhüja — were also rewarded INR 5,000 each, while the award for Best Tactic went to Terhüjavi Terhüja.

It was informed that the eight quarterfinalists along with four other players namely Kikrukhrielie Kehie, Kekhrieseto Khuoükha, Kezhabu Zumu and Neikotsilie Krose will participate at the upcoming Angami Wrestling Meet 2024 to be organized by Angami Sports Association.

Speaking at the event, special guest Charlie Sekhose, senior vice president of central NDPP, encouraged other tribes to participate in wrestling, saying that the sport builds friendship and strengthens bonds.
