Kekhrieneitso Angami, winner of the Kumite 1 Warrior Hunt, landed at Dimapur airport on Tuesday, where he was received by his family, friends and well-wishers.

Speaking to media persons upon arrival, Kekhrieneitso shared that the competition ‘Kumite 1 Warrior Hunt’ is basically one of the first Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) reality shows which was organised by Mohammad Ali Budhwani and hosted by Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty.

He said the fighters contesting in the show were selected from across the country and that he got the opportunity to represent Nagaland.

Sharing about his experience, he said the tournament was for professional fighters and since he was an amateur fighter before, debuting in a professional fight was a “different experience and I am grateful to win the show.”

About his background, he said he was interested in MMA from a young age, but he did not know whether there was MMA gyms in Nagaland and so he started off with taekwondo as he was very interested in martial arts.

And after practicing taekwondo for three years, he came to know about The Combat Academy (TCA), where he is training at present.

Kekhrieneitso took up MMA from 2017 and he has since been training under head coach Khriemelie Metha at TCA.

“I just started as a professional MMA and I have big goals, goals to become a professional fighter and represent Nagaland as well as India at the world stage. With God’s blessing I want to become a world champion as well,” he said.

Speaking about the reality show, he shared that the show went on for about a month and that their accommodation and food were taken care of by the organisers, and they were also trained by two of the best trainers.

He said he trains everyday even when there are no competitions just to keep himself ready for any upcoming event.

Sharing about being on the famous ‘The Kapil Sharma show’, to promote the Kumite 1 Warrior Hunt, which is out in MX player, he said that it was a humbling experience as they were introduced to the general public of India.

He also updated that after winning the show, he has signed a three-year contract with the organisation and, as per the contract, he will be assigned two-three fights per year. “So my next fight will be probably in April or May,” he informed.
