Kechavor Theunuo wins gold at ADCC Asian Open Thailand

DIMAPUR — Kechavor Theunuo, who represented India at the ADCC Asian Open Thailand 2024, won gold in grappling after defeating Junichi Teramoto of Japan in the men’s 18+ years/intermediate/-76 kg category on Saturday at True Digital Park West, Bangkok, Thailand.

The 26-year-old blue belt in Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) defeated Teramoto in the final match by two points, while in the semi-final he defeated Artur Tarubarov of Russia by nine points.

It may be mentioned that on December 2, 2023, Theunuo won gold at the ADCC Thailand Championship 2023 in the men’s absolute 18+ years/intermediate category after defeating Nikita Lomarev of Russia at Ramada Plaza in Phuket, Thailand.

He also won a gold medal at the ADCC India Open 2022 in the men’s 18+ years/beginner/adults/-77 kg category, held at Riva Resort, Goa, on January 2, 2022. Also, he was a silver medallist at the ADCC South Asian Championship 2022 in the absolute men’s 18+ years category, held in Goa on December 4.
