KCCI hands over relief fund to fire victims in Kohima

KOHIMA: The team of executives from Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) handed over a relief fund amounting to INR 2,50,000 to the victims of the recent fire incident at Mao Market and adjoining areas, on Monday at Sokhriezie Market in Kohima.

Led by KCCI president Kezhazer Angami, the team handed over the cash to the victims through the convenor of Mao, T Khel and NM Market relief committee at Sokhriezie Market in BOC to express solidarity with those affected by the inferno that burnt down business establishments, including several residential houses on February 27 evening.

Kaihrü Henry, the general secretary of KCCI, informed Eastern Mirror that the good gesture was made possible through well-wishers and traders under the business community in the city following which they extended the fund to mitigate the suffering of the victims.

He informed that the relief committee will dispatch the fund accordingly to house owners, tenants, families and traders who were affected by the fire.

It was also informed that as part of the charitable exercise, KCCI would reach out to extend help to some more traders who were affected by another fire incident at Jail and Bayavü colonies recently.
