KASA commemorates golden jubilee; sports meet kicks off
DIMAPUR — The golden jubilee commemoration of Khaghaboto Area Sports Association (KASA) and inaugural ceremony of the six-day sports meet was held Yehokhu village, Niuland district on Monday, with Minister of PHED and Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi as the special guest.
It was informed that there are 17 villages are participating in the sports meet which includes football for men, and volleyball and badminton for both men and women. In his address, the minister highlighted about the significance of living in an era marked by rapid technological advancements.
Zhimomi emphasised that the society today is a part of a competitive global landscape where opportunities and challenges are abundant.
He said events like sports serve as a valuable “training point” for young people, but lamented that many youths in the state remain inactive and underutilised.
He urged the youths to focus on skill development and encouraged them to explore their potential and utilise their talents, irrespective of whatever field.
Further, he asked the youths to come out of their comfort zones and work hard and be sincere in everything they do, so that they will not disappoint the people who believe in them. He urged the young people to value the dignity of labour, and also emphasised on the importance of confidence and self discovery.
Earlier during the day, two jubilee monoliths were unveiled by the minister at Khaghaboto town and Yehokhu village, respectively. The dedicatory prayers were led by Rev. Lujeto Yeptho, pastor of L Hotovi village and Hito Chishi, pastor of Yehokhu village.
During the inaugural programme, war cry was performed by Isali Zhimomi, cultural performances by Yehokhu village and Xukiye village, and jubilee song by Ashito Awomi.
Welcome speech was delivered by Ikato H Awomi, GB of Yehokhu village, and the KASA president, Khetovi Awomi delivered the presidential address.
The sports meet will conclude on November 9.
