Karbi Anglong: Youth organisations kick-start ‘Mission-25′ campaign in support of KAAC

Diphu, Aug. 29 (EMN): Extending support to the ongoing quality education awareness campaign – Mission 2025, initiated by the Education Department, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), various students and youth organisation of Karbi Anglong have now come in support of the campaign.

Various students and youth organisations kick-started the campaign on Monday and will be visiting every schools in both Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.

President of KSA, Thangsing Timung told media persons at KSA Central Executive Committee (CEC) office Rongtheang in Diphu that during the campaign period, the students and youth organisations will visit different schools where each student organisation would be visiting separate schools.

 “The student organisations are extending their support to the initiative taken by Executive Member (EM), KAAC Education, Richard Tokbi as he is involving all student organisations in the education campaign to achieve quality by 2025,” he said.

Timung also said each student organisation has selected certain schools and they will be studying the needs and problems of the school. “We can change the education scenario in 1530 schools in Karbi Anglong only by joint efforts from every individual in our society,” he said.

On the recent news about the closure of schools with zero performance in HSLC examinations, Timung said closing down is not the ultimate solution.

Coordinator for Quality Education Awareness Campaign, Richard Engti said in comparison to other districts, Karbi Anglong is always at the bottom in HSLC exams. 16 organisations are involved in the education campaign. These organisations are KSA, Karbi Students Union, Karbi Students and Youth Council, Kuki Students Organisations, Karbi Youth Development Organisation, Karbi Youth Organisation, All Tiwa Students Association, All Gorkha Students Union, GU, All Adivasi Students Association of Assam, All Assam Bengali Youth Federation, All Dimasa Students Union, Dimasa Students Union, Rengma Naga Students Union, BJYM, Garo Union and Lumbajong Development Organisation.
