Karbi Anglong observes World No Tobacco Day
DIPHU — Along with the rest of the world, the students of Diphu Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H) observed World No Tobacco Day with the theme ‘We Need Food, Not Tobacco’.
Inorder to create awareness among the public about the harmful effects of consuming tobacco, a street play was displayed at Diphu bus stand and near Hanuman mandir in Diphu. The play appealed all to give up tobacco in all forms.
Principal cum Chief Superintendent, Diphu Medical College & Hospital, Sumitra Hagjer, MBBS, MS said that many consumes tobacco for relaxation without knowing the consequences.
Farmers can stop cultivating tobacco and take up paddy and other crop cultivation, she urged.
The Programme was organised by the District Health Society and National Health Mission in association with the Department of Community Medicine, DMC&H.
