Karbi Anglong DC briefs on delimitation
DIPHU — The deputy commission of Karbi Anglong, Madhumita Bhagawati, has briefed on the final delimitation of parliamentary constituencies (PC) and assembly constituencies (AC) in Karbi Anglong district.
Addressing media persons on Thursday, the DC briefed on the final delimitation of PC and AC under Karbi Anglong as per the Election Commission of India notification dated August 11, 2023.
As per the notification, under Bokajan (ST), LAC included Bokajan and Nilip Dev. Blocks, while the urban bodies included Chowkihola and Deithor Town Committees (TC) and Bokajan Municipal Board (MB).
Under Howraghat (ST), LAC included Rongmongve, Howraghat and Samelangso Dev. Blocks with Dokmoka, Langhin and Howraghat MBs and Rongmongve, Dolamara, Dengaon and Samelangso TCs included.
Under Diphu (ST), LAC included Lumbajong and Langsomepi Dev. Blocks with Diphu and Bakulia MBs and Manja, Borlangpher, Dhansiri and Phuloni/ Centre TC, which are part of it.
Under Diphu (ST), PC has been extended to the existing 108 Bokajan (ST) LAC, 109 Howraghat (ST) LAC, 110 Diphu (ST) LAC and 113 Haflong (ST) LAC and two new LAC including 111 Rongkhang LAC and 112 Amri (ST) LAC.
The DC also showed the AC-wise electors as of 27/01/2023. In 17-Bokajan (ST) LAC, there are 1, 57,204 electors including 79,027 male and 78,177 female. There is no third gender. The gender ratio is 987 and has 213 polling stations.
In 18-Howraghat (ST) LAC, there are 1,36,227 electors including 67,385 male and 68,835 female with a total of 167 polling stations.
In 19-Diphu (ST) LAC, there are 20,9683 electors including 10,4599 male and 10,5072 female with 258 polling stations.
The DC also informed that as per the EC’s instruction, the ongoing pre-revision exercise has been stopped in Assam in the light of delimitation orders. The DC further informed that enrollment of new electors, deletion, correction etc. have been frozen till December 1, 2023.
