KOHIMA — Kaisa Rio, wife of Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Ro, on September 12 inaugurated Amul Parlour managed by the Nagaland Police Family Welfare Organisation (NPFWO) at the Police Headquarters in Kohima.

Inaugurating the Amul parlour, Rio said that milk and dairy products comprised a considerable portion of one’s daily diet because of their rich nutritional content and the high source of protein. She appreciated and congratulated the members of the organisation for starting the project, which she believed would go a long way in income generation and used for the members who need it most.

She expressed hope the service would be used for the betterment of the police family and the public at large.

NPFWO president, Vinita Sharma, while presenting a project report, commended the efforts of all the previous wives of DGP especially the ones who conceived the idea of forming the organisation. She added that each one of them contributed to the welfare through different kinds of activities and in all those activities that they did, they followed the same and brought a few of their ideas into the system.

“All of us in the districts and in the units, we all have our small units which function as family welfare so each one of them decides what is to be done as a family,” she said.

She added there are times when they have financial literacy programmes and also provide skill training like cooking and baking. This time, they will be creating medical awareness camps which would include pre and post-natal care and mental health.

She further thanked the Amul team for making it possible for the welfare to generate revenue, which would go into the welfare fund.
