The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) placed the budget of the inherent subjects for the financial year of 2023-24 in a budget session held at the KAAC session hall on Thursday.

The expected expenditure is INR 71,565.31 lakh against the expected revenue receipt of INR 74,764.21 lakh.

The budget for the entrusted subjects was also placed where the budget ended without any debate as there was no opposition member.

The Chief Executive Member (CEM), KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang said, “The budget session concluded very peacefully. No debate was witnessed as there was no opposition member. This time the budget for SOPD schemes has been increased to 10 percent.”

The CEM informed that the state government has given the authority to the KAAC for the preparation of a budget.

As special packages from the state and Central government for both salary and non-salary, the KAAC will be receiving more than 3000 crore.

The budget for an inherent subject was placed without deficit, the CEM said. “Every year the budget for inherent subjects has been in deficit, but this time it has been balanced. The inherent subjects have been prepared to compare with the source of revenue to be received by the KAAC,” CEM said.

The CEM also said a budget provision has been made for holding of festivals for all tribes and communities.

Earlier, before the session, an obituary reference was taken up for former Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) Bhim Kanta Chauhan, who passed away recently. The obituary reference was led by Chairman, KAAC, Raju Tisso. A one-minute silent prayer was observed by the members of the house for the departed soul. Diphu, Feb. 23 (EMN)
