KAAC EM lays foundation stone for construction of a fishery pond
DIPHU: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Executive Member in charge Fisheries; Handloom & Textiles and Adult Education, Madhuram Lekthe laid the foundation stone for construction of fishery pond under Amrit Sarovar central sponsored scheme at Rukasen College, Bakulia on Friday.
Implemented by Langsomepi Development Block scheme, the site for the construction of the fishery pond is on a paddy field belonging to Rukasen College.
Lekthe said that the size of the fishery pond under Amrit Sarovar will be 12 bighas from the 70 bighas of land belonging to the college.
With INR 25 lakh sanctioned for the construction of the pond, the project will be completed before the Monsoon season, EM said.
Commenting on the ongoing speculations regarding the use of college land, the EM clarified that construction of the fishery pond will protecting the college land from encroachers.
The laying of the foundation stone was attended by the Principal, Rukasen College, Dr. Milan Banik; VDC Chairman, Noren Killing; Ward Commissioner of Ward No.7 of Bakulia town, Bijoy Hanse and JE, Langsomepi Development Block, Harlongki Timung.
The EM also laid the foundation stone for the construction of another fishery pond at Rongchimrum, Volongkim Aji.
