Joint council forum of three colonies conducts cleanliness drive in Dimapur
DIMAPUR — A joint social work was organised by the Joint Council Forum (JCF) of NST Colony, Churches Colony, and Middle Point on April 27, involving residents and business establishments.
According to a press release, Jonah Achumi, chairman of Middle Point, pointed out on the occasion that the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) should address the repair of drain covers and footpaths as they pose dangers to pedestrians, especially school-going children.
He urged the DMC to increase the frequency of their sanitation vehicles that collect garbage in the areas of the three colonies, due to the high number of commercial outlets and vendors present there.
The release stated that every community should sensitise its own members to refrain from littering on roadsides and in drains, noting that Dimapur is regarded as one of the dirtiest cities in the country due to the actions of such irresponsible residents.
Additionally, shops have been instructed to install CCTV cameras to monitor garbage dumping. It was mentioned that the councils will also be organising more community participation activities in the coming days.
