DIMAPUR — The Jakhama Students’ Union (JSU) held its 57th annual conference on Thursday at Campion School Ground, Jakhama village, on the theme ‘Go green to breathe clean’.
According to a press release, the conference had MLA Kevipodi Sophie as the chief guest and Colonel Gaurav Singh SC, SM Commanding Officer-164 Naga Regiment, as the special guest.
On the occasion, the convenor of the Jakhama Students’ Union Education Trust, advocate Kezhokhoto Savi, presented the financial situation and explained how individuals can obtain sponsorship from the union. He mentioned that a student should be of good moral character and whose parents are economically poor and unable to support his or her studies, among other requirements.
In his speech, the chief guest emphasised the importance of punctuality in student life, stating that if students cannot catch up on time, time will not wait for them. He noted that in today’s fast-paced technological world, students must strive for excellence.
Sophie claimed that there is no room for half-hearted students because the competition spirit is so high, and he claimed that the state government is checking all appointments against positions that have not been sanctioned. He added that education is crucial for becoming an entrepreneur, doing business, and so on.
Colonel Gaurav Singh emphasised the crucial role of youth, underscoring their significant potential to contribute to the public good and community welfare. He urged students to embrace hard work, stressing that there are no shortcuts to success.
Furthermore, he encouraged the community to collaborate for the greater good and commended the students for their initiatives in promoting environmental awareness on the theme ‘Go green to breathe clean’,’ noting the importance of maintaining clean surroundings for a healthier environment.
During the session, the president of Jakhama Gazetted Officer Krotho (JGOK) highlighted the significance of sanitation and Sophietso Khel was announced as the cleanest khel out of the eight khels and four colonies.
