IMPHAL, August 16: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the murder of M Jamkholal, alias George Zou has reached an understanding with the state government following a talk between the two sides on Tuesday, according to reliable sources.
In the day’s talk, the state authority has assured the JAC that necessary action will be taken up as soon as possible, according the source. The Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Health Minister and Tengnoupal MLA DK Korungthang and ADC chairman Sesei Zou represented the state authority.
In view of the development, the JAC temporarily suspended their agitation imposed along the Imphal-Moreh route with immediate effect, the source added.
Earlier, in a memorandum to the Deputy Chief Minister, JAC demanded necessary action against the responsible group(s) or individual(s) involved in the brutal murder of M Jamkholal.
The JAC said, M Jamkholal who was a senior member of United Kuki Liberation Front, an armed group having a Suspension of Operations agreement (with the government), had gone to Moreh to attend to personal matters but was brutally murdered on July 2 after he was abducted from a hotel allegedly by some cadres of Kuki National Organisation. His decomposed body was found on July 6 along Menal River, near Indo-Myanmar border.
