International Day against Drug abuse and illicit trafficking was observed by Serendip Guardians and Youngs’ Club (YC) with the students of St. Gabriel’s School Chumukedima. An awareness programme was successfully conducted under the theme: “Drug use Disorders are Preventable and Treatable” with the students of class viii, ix and x. There was a positive participation from the students through interactions, fun and games.
As the saying goes, every change begins within oneself, the students of St. Gabriel took the first step of change by coming up with beautiful posters and cartoons with message on drug abuse which was put up for the whole school to see. The Serendip Guardians and Youngs’ Club also expressed gratitude to the authority and staff of school for their positive cooperation towards the programme.

Mon: District AIDS Prevention & Control Unit (DAPCU), Mon Users’ Network, Evergreen Welfare Society, Shansham Org, Konyak Students’ Union, MSF, 33 Assam Rifles, Police and Excise Department have jointly observed the International Day against Drug abuse and Illicit trafficking today at Mon under the theme “Make Health Your ‘New High’ in Life, Not Drugs”.
Longyim Tzudir, District Programme Officer, DAPCU his short speech, mentioned that the Day is observed to raise awareness and to create a society free of illegal drugs and drug abuse. He further called upon all sections in the society for continual support towards promoting awareness of dangers associated with illicit drugs and to mobilize community support for drug control. Sashi, Vice President of NUN and Secretary, MUN had acknowledged the various departments, organizations and individuals for their kind participation in observing the daylong event. The leaflets and badges provided by NSACS and Nagaland Users’ Network were distributed to the general population in the streets within Mon town as part of the campaign.
