Dimapur, Oct. 2 (EMN): International coffee buyers namely Carl Wessel and Dr. Pieter Vermeulen have expressed keenness to buy coffee produced from Nagaland for which they are willing to pay a good price.
This was conveyed to the minister of Planning and Co-ordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu, who met them in New Delhi, while en-route to Nagaland to explore the potentiality of the coffee products.
Carl Wessel, co-founder of Deluxe Coffee Works, is one of the major coffee buyers in the world and has many branches across the globe, stated an update from the OSD to the minister on Saturday.
During the interaction, Carl Wessel and Dr. Pieter Vermeulen shared their desire to buy coffee produced from Nagaland and assured that farmers would get a good price.
The statement informed that Kronu has highlighted his vision for Nagaland, where the resources are untapped and Nagaland has a potential to compete with the rest of the world. He also shared his vision on “Trees for wealth” and about coffee, which could be one of the main aspects to boost the economy of the state, particularly the farmers. Kronu also shared about the honey and the local ginger products, which have low volume but high value with lots of medicinal values during the interaction.
It informed that the buyers were also looking to buy other products from Nagaland.
“Today the market has taken flight and shows no sign of slowing down as people love organic local products and that will never change,” the statement added.
