INR 2258.89 lakh released to Nagaland under scheme to promote organic farming

Dimapur, Feb. 5 (EMN): The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare had released INR 2258.89 lakh to Nagaland state against the allocation of INR 2837.80 lakh during 2020-21 under Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER).
A total of INR 2134.89 lakh out of the release amount has been utilised (expenditure) under this scheme and INR 7.57 lakh was released and as much amount spent under the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) during the year 2020-21.
This was stated by Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha on February 4.
The government of India has been implementing dedicated PKVY and MOVCDNER schemes since 2015-16 to encourage farmers to produce organic manure and to promote organic farming of foodgrains in the country.
Under these schemes, farmers are primarily encouraged to adopt organic cultivation using organic inputs and support is provided to the farmers for various components from production to value addition, certification and marketing of organic produce.
Farmers are provided assistance of INR 31000 per hectare for three years under PKVY and INR 32500 per hectare for three years under MOVCDNER for various organic inputs, including on-farm production/procurement of organic fertilisers.
An amount of INR 650 crore has been approved for promotion of organic farming for 2021-22, it was informed.
