Injury woes end NWA’s fortune at wushu championship

DIMAPUR— Nagaland Wushu Association (NWA) team crushed out of the ongoing 32nd National Championship 2023 held at Pune’s Chatrapati Sports Complex.

Two ace fighters from NWA team Kethosilie Kuosa (52 kg) and Atokivi T Chishi (60 kg) dislocated their shoulders during the second round matches. Despite winning the first bouts, they had to withdraw from their respective matches as they were unable to continue their bouts, an update from NWA stated.

A total of five players from Nagaland namely Rakesh Mahato, Mankho T Konyak, Kethosilie Kuosa, Atokivi T Chishi and Keyisuiding Lungalang took part in different categories for sanda events. The team was led by coach Gabriel Khamo and manager Azhove Resu.

Rakesh Mahato (70 kg) and Keyisuiding Lungalang (75 kg) managed to reach the pre-quarter final round.

More than 1500 wushu players from 45 associations across the country are taking part in the mega sporting event. The event is organised by Wushu Association of India and hosted by Maharashtra Wushu Association.
