Imphal, April 20 (EMN): Manipur Governor La Ganesan on Wednesday, stated that infiltrators are trying to sneak into Manipur from the Myanmar side and that any infiltration or illegal immigration to the state should be checked and sent back.

The governor was speaking at an interaction programme with the villagers at Town Hall, Kamjong district,120 km east of Imphal as part of his two-day visit to Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.

He appealed to remain vigilant enough to check such acts and inform authorities if such a case arises as the state shares a long border with Myanmar. Being a border state, the government alone cannot stop such illegal activities without people’s cooperation, he said.

He also called upon the people of Kamjong district to implement ABCD, which means A for Aadhar enrolment, B for opening bank account, C for Covid-19 vaccination and D for taking part in developmental activities.

Reiterating that the Centre and the state government is fully committed for all round development and to give maximum benefits to the people, he informed that roads are being built and basic infrastructures will also be developed in the district.

Any issues pertaining to development will be taken care of by the state government and will also be apprised to the Centre if necessary, he added.

Earlier, the governor was accorded a warm welcome by the Deputy Commissioner of Kamjong district, R Rang Peter.

Phungyar MLA, Leishiyo Keishing, who attended the interaction programme, greeted the governor for his visit to the district. The Civil Society Organisations of the district also submitted a memorandum to the governor and asked him to take prompt action concerning different issues.

On the first day of his visit to Ukhrul and Kamjong districts on Tuesday, Governor Ganesan visited Nungbi Khullen village in Ukhrul district and had attended an interaction session with the villagers apart from inspecting the pottery works in the village.
