Dimapur, April 5 (EMN): Two houses were gutted in a fire in Chumoukedima on April 1, wherein property worth approximately INR 4 lakh was lost. An update informed that cause of the fire was suspected to be from an electrical short circuit.
Fire and Emergency Services team from Fire Station Chümoukedima received the fire call at around 2:51 pm, it said.
Due to timely information and response, fire was controlled and prevented from spreading to the surrounding houses. It took fire team 20 minutes to combat the fire, it added.
In a similar incident, 20 houses were gutted in an inferno at Tamong village and Totok Chingha, in Mon on April 2 and 3 respectively.
On April 2, one house along with property worth INR 15 lakh was lost at the Tamong. Property worth approximately INR 20 lakh could be salvaged, it said. It took fire team 40 minutes to combat the fire.
On receiving fire call at 10:44 pm on April 3, Fire and Emergency Services team from Fire Station Mon proceeded to control the fire at Totok Chingha. Nineteen houses along property worth approximately INR 50 lakh were lost in the fire.
