DIMAPUR — Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan on Friday iterated that India is standing on the threshold of a new era, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi has termed as ‘Amrit Kaal.’

“This golden period is a visionary phase towards a prosperous India and it signifies a time of renewal and resurgence and also a moment to re-imagine our future and work collectively towards a stronger, more prosperous India. Our vision for a ‘Viksit Bharat’ – a developed India by 2047 – is also within our grasp,” the governor said.

Addressing the graduation ceremony of St Joseph’s College Jakhama, Ganesan said the golden period will be an India with robust infrastructure, inclusive growth, and a leader on the global stage, an update from PRO Raj Bhavan stated.

“This vision calls for dedication, innovation, and unity from every one of us especially the youth. Young educated people like you, with your boundless potential and fresh perspectives should be at the forefront of these movements”, he said.

He also said that the youth will be the torchbearers of this new India as it is their creativity, energy, and passion that will drive the country forward.

He urged the youth to embrace the spirit of patriotism not just for the love of the motherland, but as a commitment to contribute positively to the country.

“Patriotism is not confined to words but it is reflected in our daily actions, our respect for our fellow citizens, and our dedication to the principles of justice, equality, and freedom. Let us hold steadfast to these values and work towards a nation where harmony and prosperity reign supreme,” Ganesan shared.

Acknowledging the success of the young people, the governor also lauded the college for living up to its reputation by providing a nurturing environment conducive to higher education and learning.

“It is commendable how the institution has empowered students to excel academically, professionally, and personally. For this, the college deserves collective applause,” he said.

Noting that St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous) has been accredited with Grade ‘A’ again by the National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) just few days back, the governor said that this “remarkable achievement” is a testament of the dedication and hard work of the management, faculty and students.

He encouraged the students by saying that a human life goes through various stages, such as childhood, adolescence, adulthood etc., and that all these stages keep challenging the individual to understand the nature of the world around them.

While sharing that education is the cornerstone of progress in a society, he however maintained that it is the inclusion of spiritual and moral values within that education which will truly shape the citizens of tomorrow.

Further, the governor exhorted that even as the graduated students integrate themselves into the society as intellectuals, they should always remember to be an integral part of the nation-building process using the capabilities that they have acquired from their institutions.
