Immanuel College organises capacity building, personality development programme

DIMAPUR — The department of English, Immanuel College, Dimapur, organised a ‘Capacity building and personality development programme’ at the college auditorium on Monday.

The programme, sponsored by National Commission for Women, New Delhi, was conducted primarily for the undergraduate female students to prepare them with communication and interpersonal skills, which are pertinent for their career endeavours, the college stated in an update.

The programme consisted of three technical sessions. In the first session, Dr. Toreiphi Mungleng, Asst. Professor, Unity College of Teacher Education, Dimapur, was the resource person.

Speaking on the topic ‘Personal Capacity Building,’ Mungleng emphasised on personality development aligning with one’s vision, dreams and goals. She also briefed on the benefits of ‘brainstorming’ as it inculcates novel ideas and team spirit.

In order to achieve personal capacity and development one must engage in various capacities such as brainstorming, she said, while also underscoring the importance of time management.

In the second technical session, Sumit Seal, the resource person, dwelled on professional career skills which, he said, comes with grooming oneself towards recognising oneself and desired goals.

One of the contents he prioritised was identifying opportunities and acting accordingly.

In the third session, Hitokali S Yepthomi, who spoke on the importance of digital literacy, shared that to be relevant in contemporary society; one must be well-equipped with the idea and knowledge of digital literacy. She also enlightened the students on the usage of social media.

Earlier, the vice-principal, Immanuel College, Dr. T Imchanochetla Changkija, delivered the keynote address and the college principal Th Sharatchandra Singh gave the welcome address. 

The programme was chaired by Lunghilang Pamai, Asst. Professor, Department of English, and Akutu Poireng, HoD (English) proposed vote of thanks.
