Immanuel College celebrates World Theatre Day
DIMAPUR — The History department of Immanuel College celebrated World Theatre Day on the theme ‘Revisiting the Roots 2.0’ on Wednesday at the college auditorium.
According to a press release, Hruzia Lazeo, head of the department, emphasised the importance of understanding and preserving one’s cultural heritage amidst diverse cultures and cultural assimilation during her speech. She urged the students to value and imbibe their cultural heritage.
The event featured cultural performances in various categories, including folk song, folk drama, and folk dance. Students from the fourth semester presented a Sumi traditional dance called “Imu na sujo sujo,” while second semester students performed a folk drama depicting the tale of a woman who gave birth to a spirit, a tiger, and a man.
The sixth-semester students presented an Ao folk song titled “Watsü Wabong Atenshiang,” traditionally sung by elders during festivals and other events, particularly for the younger generations.
The event also featured indigenous cuisine from Naga tribes, prepared by the students.
