DIMAPUR — Underlining the important role of Information and Public Relations (IPR) department in disseminating news and information to the public, the advisor of IPR and Soil and Water Conservation, Imkong L Imchen, called upon the officers and staff to work with sincerity stating that the image of the government depended on the department.

Imkong stated this during a felicitation programme organised by the IPR department in its conference hall, Kohima, on Tuesday. The advisor, in his address, shared his past experiences with the department of Information and Public Relations where he was the minister for a brief period, stated a DIPR report.

Imkong reminded that the image of the government depended on IPR department, which plays an important role in disseminating news and information to the public. While assuring to give his best towards the department, he called upon the officers and staff of the department to be sincere in their assigned responsibility.

The director of IPR, Dzüvinuo Theünuo, has described the department ‘lucky’ to have a tall and seasoned leader who is equally concern about the department. She has assured full cooperation of the officers and staff with the advisor for the better functioning of the department.

She also briefed the advisor about the structures of the department from the directorate to the information centres across state. She informed that the department has PROs in Delhi, Raj Bhawan and an information cell at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat.

Theünuo also informed that the department publishes the daily Naga News, monthly Warrior publication, yearly calendar and dairy etc. She mentioned that the department has been regularly live streaming state-level programmes and other important events. She also informed that as the nodal department for film and related activities, it has been playing an important role in facilitating film makers.

Besides, she informed that the department is actively engaged on various social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. She further informed that the department has installed public address (PA) system in 11 districts and also set up LED display in some districts.

The commissioner and secretary of IPR, V Maria Yanthan, in her address, expressed hope that the department would be able to scale greater heights under the leadership of its advisor. She thanked the officers and staff of the department for the sacrifices and services and further appealed to them to uphold the hardworking spirit despite many limitations.

The joint director of IPR, I Simon Teila, who chaired the programme, stated that the department was fortunate to have a seasoned and senior leader to lead the department. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the joint director of IPR, Asangla Imsong.

Report stated that the Advisor also inspected the library at the directorate.
