Four persons have been arrested by Kohima district police for transporting a possibly stolen vehicle from Assam to a person in Manipur. The authorities issued a press release on Monday informing of the arrest.
On June 14, personnel of the Kohima police manning Phesama check gate searched a Manipur-bound truck (AS-01DD-1976, chassis MAT361333b1J25061, engine 697TC66JYY126294). The vehicle was found to be without any vehicle documents. On suspicion, the police enquired and it was ascertained that the driver of the vehicle was assured of an amount of Rs. 5, 000 for delivering the truck to a client in Senapati of Manipur. The sender was a person based in Assam, the police said.Four persons have been arrested in this regard. They are the driver Jiten Das (28 years) of Loklra village in Kamrup district of Assam; Rahul Das (23 years) of Toulakal village in Assam, Nayan Saradhar (22 years) of Agia village under Golpatra district of Assam, and Indrajeet Das (21 years) of Chatabari village of Bokajan under Assam.
