IGAR briefs Nagaland chief minister on security, civic initiatives
DIMAPUR — Major General Manish Kumar, Sena Medal (Bar), Inspector general of Assam Rifles called upon the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio at Kohima on Thursday, reaffirming the commitment of the force to being ‘Friends of the North East.’
During the interaction, the IG briefed the chief minister on the overall security situation in Nagaland and also apprised him of the various civic initiatives undertaken for the well-being of the people.
According to an update, the chief minister was highly appreciative of the ‘Centre of Excellence’ being run by Assam Rifles at Chieswema, Kohima where children are mentored and empowered for the prestigious JEE and NEET exams. The centre achieved 100% success last year with 32 students clearing the competitive exams and at present, a total of 37 students are being trained, it said.
