ICAR-ATARI to hold annual workshop in Nagaland

ICAR-Agriculture Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Zone VII, located at Umiam in Meghalaya to organise its annual zonal workshop at ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun in Medziphema, Nagaland, from July 20 to the 22nd

DIMAPUR — With an aim to promote the growth of agriculture in the Northeastern region, ICAR-Agriculture Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Zone VII, located at Umiam in Meghalaya has decided to organise its annual zonal workshop at ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun in Medziphema, Nagaland, from July 20 to the 22nd on theme “Translating research to development for sustainable agriculture in Northeast region.”

As the Northeast region of India being a crucial part of the nation’s agricultural landscape, an update from ICAR-NRC on Mithun stated that the workshop aims to create a common platform for leading experts from diverse agricultural fields. It informed that experts would come together to share their valuable insights, discuss various issues and present appropriate technological options to foster sustainable agriculture in the region.

Besides, the event would also served as an opportunity to review the remarkable achievements of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK) under ICAR-ATARI, Zone VII. It mentioned that the KVK are playing a pivotal role in promoting agricultural development and technological advancements in the Northeast region.

It stated that the annual zonal workshop sought to promote collaborations and partnerships among various allied organizations and provide a unique avenue for KVK scientists to learn about the latest technologies.

“By facilitating cross-learning from multiple stakeholders, the workshop aims to promote large-scale technology applications, refinement, and explore the possibilities for agri-partnership development,” the statement read.

The workshop would witness the participation of dignitaries including the heads of KVK from five different states namely Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura. Additionally, scientists and extension professionals from various line organisations would attend the programme.

The three-day event promised to be a comprehensive and enlightening experience for all the participants. The sessions would comprise of presentations, panel discussions, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities, ensuring a holistic approach to promoting sustainable agriculture in the Northeast region.

Dr. AK Mohanty, director of ICAR-Agriculture Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Zone VII, and Dr. Girish Patil S, director of ICAR-NRC on Mithun, have expressed their excitement, saying, “The annual zonal workshop is a significant platform for knowledge exchange and fostering collaboration among experts in the field of agriculture. We are confident that this event will pave the way for a more sustainable and technologically advanced agricultural landscape in the Northeast region.”
