Diphu, Dec. 8 (EMN): As declared by leaders of left faction, the Hill State Democratic Council (HSDC) convened its first general conference of at Diphu Club on Dec. 7 Thurs.
For the last couple of weeks, HSDC camp witnessed a split between the leaders leading to two camps on the question of converting HSDC into a monolithic political party by registering with Election Commission of India. One camp is headed by Chomang Kro, Jotson Bey and others, while the other is headed by former MP and CPI (ML) leader Dr. Jayanta Rongpi, Robi Kr. Phangcho and others.
It was the anti-left faction of HSDC led by Holiram Terang and group and they were the first to announce the HSDC convention scheduled for Dec. 10 and 11. They also rejected the dual membership in HSDC and requested the CPI (ML) members to resign from the existing party.
The leaders of the left faction of HSDC like Robi Kr. Phangcho and Selawar Bey were also quick to react on the decision of the anti-left leaders of HSDC and they also fixed their own date Dec. 7 as first general conference of HSDC at Diphu Club.
A draft document was presented in the conference for taking up for debate and discussion. The paper reads that instead of registering HSDC as a political party it would be better to register HSDP as registered regional party as the former is just a movement platform.
