HPCF holds felicitation-cum-solidarity cultural meet in Karbi Anglong

Diphu, Aug. 22 (EMN): A felicitation-cum-solidarity cultural meet by Hill People Cultural Forum (HPCF) was held on Aug. 21 with a conglomeration of 26 tribes and communities in Karbi Anglong for peace and cultural integrity.

The meet was held at Sarsing Teron (Langkung Habe) Memorial Town Hall.

Attending as chief guest, the Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang, said that the HPCF is a perfect platform that is needed in building up peace and to work together on various issues, as majority of tribes and communities are being represented in this socio-cultural organisation.

CEM said that the effort of the organisation towards building peace and promoting culture of every tribe and community is appreciable while citing that the cultural exchange programme has brought together all tribes and communities and has provided a platform to showcase one’s rich culture.

He said, ‘this peace and cultural exchange should also be organised in Delhi and at Guwahati Srimanta Sharkardev Kalakshetra too to show others that in Karbi Anglong there is peace and unity among all tribes and communities.’

The CEM while expressing his interest to support towards the organisation said that HPCF is the only platform where different tribes and communities are being represented and that through the organisation issues related to Karbi Anglong can also be taken up.

On the other hand the chairman of HPCF, Laichan Engleng said the HPCF has fully accepted the proposal of CEM of hoisting the solidarity cultural meeting at higher levels and expressed his gratitude to the CEM for his support to HPCF.

Earlier in the morning, the flag of HPCF was hoisted by the Chairman, Laichan Engleng, followed by the lighting of candles by the CEM.

The concept note of HPCF was read out by the adviser, HPCF and MAC Phenpiga Rengma. A peace pledge was pronounced by the vice chairman of HPCF, Tongthang Touthang. CEM and MP Horensing Bey released the HPCF magazine, ‘The voice of hill people.’

The HPCF also felicitated CEM, Ronghang for obtaining his doctorate for peace and education and his wife the first lady of Karbi Anglong, Kache Teronpi;

The HPCF in the meeting announced that CEM Ronghang is the chief advisor of HPCF.
