Diphu, Dec.15 (EMN): The Hill People Cultural Forum (HPCF) celebrated its 7th foundation day by commemorating it as a ‘Day of Brotherhood’ at Langvoku picnic spot on Thursday.

Participating in the celebration, the Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang announced the construction of an HPCF office building with a hostel and boundary.

The CEM said, ‘the people residing permanently since 1951 irrespective of tribes and communities will continue to live permanently by respecting each other’s language and culture.’

CEM also said HPCF has a conglomeration of 25 tribes and communities and is working together for building up brotherhood which is a new development and it is a history.

He informed that from next year, the KAAC will include a budget of INR 10 lakh for HPCF towards promotion of the culture and languages of various tribes and communities and to organise cultural exchange programmes.

The CEM also announced the construction of an open stage with INR 1 crore budget at Langvoku picnic spot under the name of HPCF.

It may be mentioned here that the HPCF was formed with a conglomeration of 25 tribes and communities viz. Karbi, Dimasa, Rengma Naga, Kuki, Tiwa, Garo, Bodo, Khasi, Man Tai-Speaking, Hmar, Ahom, Assamese, Mech Kachari, Thengal Kachari, Mizo, Chakma, Sakachep, Gorkha, Adivasi, Manipuri (Meetei), Bengali, Bhojpuri, Marwari, Sikh Samaj and Odia with motto ‘Thrive for unity & peace through culture.’

The celebration witnessed the participation of the 25 tribes and communities in their traditional attire.
