Houses gutted in Dimapur

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 13

A fire broke that out at Kevija-u Colony Dimapur on Wednesday at around 11.50 am destroyed three semi thatched houses where five families were said to be residing as tenants.
According to fire personnel, the fire started in one of the houses when the tenant was not at home at the time of the incident and engulfed other adjoining houses burning down all the three houses to ashes. The cause of the inferno could not be ascertained at the time of filing the report.
Three fire tenders were pressed into action which took about two hours to douse the fire. In the inferno, two gas cylinders were reported to have exploded. However, there were no reports of any injuries.The fire personnel informed that property worth around Rs.30 lakh was lost in the inferno.
It may be noted that this was the second fire incident in the month of January this year with the first case reported at Signal Angami Colony on January 10 which was averted.
