TSEMINYU — Elaborating on the invaluable virtues of honesty and integrity practised by Naga forefathers, minister of Power and Parliamentary Affairs, KG Kenye, on Tuesday stated that it will be foolish for the people to lose those qualities.

He stated this during the main celebration of ‘Ngada’ festival of the Rengma community at RSA Ground in Tseminyu as the special guest in presence of hosts of advisors and other legislators. Describing Nagas as a significant ethnic group in the world and uniquely rooted to its culture, Kenye called upon the people to uphold their culture and tradition.

While reminding that pure democracy was practised by Nagas in the bygone era, he said those values of bravery, hard working and honesty are recorded by ethnographers and researchers in their writings. He, however, lamented to note vanishing of those values among the younger generations.

Describing the culture of honesty and integrity as priceless qualities of the Nagas inherited from the ancestors, he advised the people to uphold and propagate them.

With no permanent solution in sight to the Naga political issue, he encouraged the people to keep living, improving and advancing.

Also pointing out on the fragmentation in the Naga society, Kenye has sought to resolve the issue within the communities through cooperation saying that no outsiders would come to solve the problem.

Greetings were delivered by Ngada host, Jwenga Seb, MLA and chairman of Tseminyu District Planning and Development Board (DPDB); GK Zhimomi, CNTC general secretary; Kekhwengulo Lea, president of Tenyimia Union Nagaland (TUN); Razouvotuo Chatsu, president of Angami Public Organisation (APO); as well as from the presidents of Lotha Hoho and Sumi Hoho.

Ruchinilo Kemp, member secretary of TDGI, gave a powerpoint presentation and administered pledge on Tseminyu District Green Initiatives (TDGI) to the gathering.

A folk fusion was presented by The Willing Souls and cultural exhibition was presented by the seven ranges of Rengma tribe.
