Dimapur, June 23 (EMN): Help Nagaland Breathe (HNB), a Covid-19 relief fundraiser, received its fourth consignment of medical supplies from the Hemkunt Foundation on June 4 and were distributed to three districts in Nagaland under phase-I.

An update from HNB stated that the donation from Hemkunt, a non-government organisation that aims at providing humanitarian aid to marginalised sections of society, came about in response to HNB’s ongoing fundraising campaign to obtain urgently needed medical supplies for Nagaland’s fight against Covid.

It stated that the shipment, which consisted of 700 home care kits, 25 oxygen cylinders, 25 oxygen concentrators, 41 oximeters, 400 PPE kits and 300 N95 masks, was delivered to Kohima with logistics support from the government of Nagaland. It added that further medical supplies containing 325 NRB masks, 62 pulse oximeters, and 20 PPE kits were received by the HNB team through various donors such as IIT Kanpur Alumni and Suramandala Foundation.

Under the first phase of distribution, the medical supplies were distributed to beneficiaries in the districts of Peren (Tening CHC), Kiphire (DH, Pungro CHC, Seyochung CHC, Amahator CHC), and Longleng (DH, Tamlu CHC, Sakshi PHC), the statement read.

It added that the shipping, delivery, and transportation of the medical supplies were assisted by Nagaland House DRC Delhi, Nagaland House DRC Guwahati, Shanavas and Dr. Longri Kichu from the Nagaland Covid War Room and department of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland.

On receiving the consignment, Moasunep Kashibo Jingro, EAC of Kiphire, was quoted saying, “A big thank you to HNB for the support. It will help Kiphire frontline workers immensely in containing Covid-19, but more importantly, to save lives.”

V Kashiho Sangtam, minister of Soil and Water Conservation, also expressed his gratitude to HNB for the supplies on his official Twitter handle.

Report also stated that the distribution of the aid was done after a needs analysis conducted by the members of the HNB team. Invaluable insights were gathered from medical experts and frontline workers, healthcare administrators, service providers and government representatives, it added.

HNB also intends to assist the already ongoing work of the local government, along with international organisations and community organisations. It further mentioned that HNB would strive for equitable and transparent distribution of all accrued supplies. Details of all shipments could be found on its website.
