Hills United FC lift GDSA Football League A-Div trophy

Hills United FC emerged champion of the Greater Diphu Sports Association (GDSA) Football League of A- Division, 2022 by securing 10 points after playing their last league match against defending championship Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC (KAMSFC), here at Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) Stadium on Thursday.

The Hills United boys got the upper hand as they scored their first goal 9 minutes into of the start of the match via a penalty kick from Chesong Hanse. The penalty was awarded after Nebemo Kikon of the Morning Star was booked for handball inside the goal line.

 Chesong Hanse, who took the penalty kick for Hills United FC, landed his ball perfectly into the net and gave a one goal lead to his team.

The blue boys of Morning Star failed to make much enroute into the territory of the Hills United and the first half ended with Hills United leading by a solitary goal.

In the second half, the blue boys came up with some fresh techniques and made several attempts to even the score but the counterattacks by Hills United players frustrated their plan.

The spirit of the Blues were further dampened when they conceded another goal in the 85th minute coming from the boots of Bimson Rongpi of Hills United through an assist from Sarmon Nunisa.

The remaining last five minutes of the game saw the Blues making several unsuccessful forays into the rival territory and the match ended 2-0 in favour of Hills United.

Hills United stood on top of the chart with a total of 13 points from 5 matches (win- 4, lost-0, draw-1) while KAMSFC gathered 10 points from 5 matches (win – 3, lost- 1, draw- 1).

Diphu FC, which bagged the second position in the league, had a goal difference of 14 goals against KAMSFC. In 5 matches played Diphu FC secured 10 points (win- 3, lost- 1, draw -1).

Hills United FC were handed a winning trophy and a cash prize by the general secretary, KASA, Dr. Pankaj Teron, while KASA, badminton secretary, Kensing Engti, handed the runner-up trophy and cash prize to Diphu FC.

The best goalkeeper was awarded to Klarson Timung of Diphu FC, while the highest scorer award was given to Kirat Tisso of Diphu FC (15 goals in the whole season) and the best player of today’s match was given to Chesong Hanse of Hills United FC.

The prize-giving ceremony was attended by assistant general secretary, KASA, Prodip Ronghang; KASA Cricket Secretary, Sanjoy Timung and KASA football secretary, Horen Engti Kathar.
