High-powered committee held at Taralangso in Assam
DIPHU — A high-powered committee had a meeting on Professional Grazing Reserve (PGR) and Village Grazing Reserve (VGR) lands under the jurisdiction of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) at Kajir Ronghangpi guest house, Taralangso on Friday.
‘A high-powered committee consisting stakeholders and political parties, social and student organisations and intellectuals held the 2nd round of meeting on Friday,’ Chief Executive member (CEM) of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang, told journalists.
He added that a resolution was passed to carry out eviction drive as per the Supreme Court.
The CEM also stated that there are 1026 bighas of land in Phuloni circle, out of which 308 bighas have already been encroached, while the forest department will use the remaining 716 bighas for plantation.
The delegation will meet Assam CM in connection with law and order, which is not in the hand of KAAC. The next high-powered committee meeting will be held in August, said CEM Ronghang.
The Friday’s meeting was attended by Member of Parliament, Amarsing Tisso, former CEM Jotson Bey, former MP Dr. Jayanta Rongpi, former MLA Holiram Terang, EMS and MACc, and others.
