The 23rd foundaton day celebration of the Green Foundation(GF), Manipur based social enterprise exclusively on sustainable development through peaceful co-existence and prosperity of the state was held at its head office located at Kwakeithel Awang Thiyam Leikai in Imphal today.A website of the foundation(www.greenfound.net) was also formally launched by L Lanchand Chenglei of GF during the day’s foundation day celebration.The celebration of the foundation which was established with a passion to bring professional solutions besides having the sole objective of attaining the progress of humanity by providing the (minimum or required) facilities and opportunities depending upon their respective needs, was attended by many government officials, NGO representatives, farmers and other well wishers.
Some of the experts in diverse fields including Dr Rabindrakumar officer in charge of Regional Centre of Organic Farming, Dr M Sumanjit, associate professor in Agronomy in Central Agricultural University,Eroishemba, former Director Economic and Statistics department O Biren, founding chairman of GF N Joykumar, present chairman GF Lanchand Chenglei, Executive member of GF W Kumar, Secretary of GF U Himat and others also spoke on the occasion.A traditional luncheon was also organised with the locally available bio-resources as part of the day’s foundatio day celebration
Interestingly the foundation aims to facilitate and bring harmony between modern materialism and spiritualism; to propagate International brotherhood and global thinking and its application at the local level for fulfilling their responsibilities towards the development of man kind.
WAD appreciates Governor’s move:A delegation of Women Action for Development (WAD), a Manipur based NGO and its alliance members of other civil societies acknowledged and appreciated state governor for meeting the WAD delegation at his good office in Imphal.
The said (visiting) letter was submitted (by WAD)in consideration of the increasing crime against women and children occurring in the state of Manipur thereby seeking for special attention to at least consider taking action with regard to two particular cases of rape and murder of one minor child namely Laishram Shumila under FIR No. 2 (1) 2014 Kumbi Police Station under section 302/34 Indian Penal Code and another of one 21 Years old girl under FIR No. 10(10) 2014 Police Station-Bishnupur under section 366/368/342/376/34 Indian Penal Code , according to a press release here.
“The said two cases have not been properly and thoroughly investigated by the concerned police stations of Kumbi and Bishnupur thereby failing to arrest the perpetrators of the crime,” says WAD Secretary Mangsatabam Sobita.
“In this regard his Excellency has given the assurance that the needful action will be executed and also special attention will also be paid to complete the investigation as soon as possible and penalized the culprit as per the rule of law.We are hopeful that the assurance so given by his Excellency will be transformed into letter and spirit.”
WAD and other civil society organizations have been demanding thorough investigation into the various missing report of women in Manipur. According to WAD reports, a total of about 22 women were reported missing in Manipur till April 17 this year against the missing report of about 84 women last year.
