DIMAPUR — Green Club Zunheboto organised a one-day awareness programme on blood donation at the Zunheboto Town Sumi Baptist Church on October 2 on the theme “Save life, give blood,” with head-cum-senior specialist Dr. Akaho Sema of the district hospital Zunheboto as the speaker.

The programme was chaired by Tavinto K Sumi, president of the club, who noted that the club has actively donated blood for the past 12 to 13 years to support patients in need, according to an update.

In his speech, Dr. Akaho Sema emphasised the critical need for blood donations, highlighting that donating blood has saved many lives. He pointed out that blood is essential for patients suffering from kidney failure, cancer, those involved in car accidents, and during natural disasters or childbirth.

He described the process of donating blood as not only life-saving but also beneficial to the donor’s health, stating that it helps improve the immune system and replenish blood cells.

Dr. Sema encouraged individuals aged 18 to 65 who weigh more than 50 kg to consider donating blood, noting that they can do so up to four times a year.
