Dimapur, Nov. 22 (EMN): GPRN/NSCN celebrated the 15th Naga Unification anniversary on Tuesday at its Council Headquarters (CHQ), Naga Unification Camp, Khehoyi, with Azheto Chophy, member and advisor to collective leadership (ACL), GPRN/NSCN, as the chief guest.

A GPRN/NSCN’s statement through its MIP stated that the programme began with an invocation prayer said by Dr Akito, pastor of CHQ Church, followed with unfurling of the Naga national flag by the chief guest.

The kilo kilonser, Jack Jimomi, conveyed greetings and welcomed the gathering and an obituary moment in honour of the martyrs and heroes, who stood and sacrificed for the Naga unity and nationhood was observed.

Speaking on the occasion, Azheto Chophy reminisced briefly about the genuine journey undertaken by GPRN to bring together the divided Naga national groups. While admiring about the relentless patriotism of the Naga people, he spoke of the regretful exhibition and division of the Naga people into different groups and parties although with a same goal, the statement read.

He opined that the desire and goal of the Naga people would not be achieved and materialised as long as the Naga people, especially the national workers, stop dwelling on division and imbecile outlooks. With the passing of a generation, he stated that the new Naga generation is yet to see what has been dreamt by the past patriotic leaders for the future Naga people.

“Solution to the Naga political issue would not arrive even if next Naga generation continues to carry on the Naga movement, until Naga people unites with one voice and stand,” the statement has quoted Azheto as saying. He reiterated that the basic aim of unification was meant for Naga political solution and nothing else.

Summarising his speech on the need for unity and building cohesive relationship among the Naga people, he extended his greeting and urged the gathering to support the collective leadership of its president, Gen. (Retd.) MB Neokpao Konyak, and ato kilonser, N Kitovi Zhimomi, with renewed spirit and aspire for a better future for the Naga people.

A song was presented by Toshili Yeptho, tatar.

The programme concluded with a word of gratitude from Yimto Yimkhiung, kilonser and convenor of the programme organising committee, and benediction by Hukavi, chaplain of GHQ.
