Dimapur, April 10 (EMN): State Cabinet, during its meeting on February 22, 2022, has issued notification to the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to collect royalty on sand and stone as per the revised forest royalty rates of 2021 with immediate effect.

The notification to this effect was issued following prolonged confusion pertaining to collection of royalty on sand and stone between the Forest and Geology Mining departments.

In a notification dated April 4, the commissioner and secretary to the government of Nagaland, R Asenla Keitzar, stated that the Governor was pleased to notify the Forest department to collect royalty on sand and stone as per the Revised Forest Royalty Rates of 2021 with immediate effect in addition to forest products already under its purview in the interest of public service.
