DIMAPUR — Nagaland Governor, La. Ganesan, has described Dr. Imkongliba Ao as a visionary leader, who foresaw a peaceful and prosperous Nagaland about 60 years ago, and urged upon the Naga people to live as a model citizen so that legacy of great personalities like Dr. Imkongliba Ao would live on.
Ganesan stated this during the ‘Dr. Imkongliba Ao Martyrdom Day’ programme held at Raj Bhavan in Kohima on Saturday.
“Had his opponents and critics heeded his vision then, we would be in a far better situation today. Unfortunately, we lag behind others due to not paying heed to the guidance of pioneers and visionary leaders like Dr. Imkongliba Ao,” the governor said.
He also emphasised that Nagas are just as talented and forward-thinking as any other communities in India and thus, Nagaland should be as developed as any other state in the country.
He further urged the gathering to live as model citizens of the country so that the legacy of great personalities like D. Imkongliba Ao would live on.
The joint secretary to Governor, Mhomo Tungoe, gave a brief profile of Dr. Imkongliba Ao.
The programme was attended by the officers and staff of Raj Bhavan, Kohima.
